Hey Hey Girls!
So the other day I was reading through Glamour magazine and an ad caught my eye.
"Always hit on the wingman" was the title of the dating book they were trying to pitch.
For some reason I decided to download this book on my nook. Why...i dont really know. Im not really one for cheesey cookie cutter dating guides that try to tell you your single because you are too boring or too exciting or not commited enough.
A few pages in I found out that yes the book was totally cheesey...entertaining...and in a bit of a strange way true. Besides I have nothing better to do on the J train.
Dating in NYC is never easy...and reading a book sure isnt going to solve it. But in the crazy social scene I am in it helps to understand as many angles as you can.
That night out I realized the "wingman" theory being played on me. A boy aproached me and my friend outside, made small talk with my friend, then somehow ended up insisting he come with me to coat check and doesnt leave my side the rest of the night. In the end I just left without really saying bye...but just laughing in my head about what had just happend in reference to the book.
Maybe I should stop reading this book now...hahaha and write a REAL dating book of my own...in a girls point of view. Afterall how can a straight guy write a dating book for single girls and be taken seriously.

Hey Hey Snow!

We finally got a bit of some snow here!

I was really hoping for a snow day...but unfortunately the weatherman wasnt as accurate as he should have been, but ill take it :)

I took a walk through SoHo before work to enjoy the snow. It wasnt the smartest idea that I was wearing my doc marten heels...but they are the only real boots I own! And ya gotta look good even in a blizzard.

Hey Hey Mother Nature,

Ok...So maybe I counted the chickens before they hatched. NYC has been pretty darn freezing this week and as usual I was sooo not prepared.

Due to the coldness I am now in hibernation mode. I am only going to Manhattan to work or run errands. Otherwise you can find me hiding away in Brooklyn at home doing more productive things such as reading good books, blogging, and a lot of sewing. :)

On the plus side...I did find one cool thing this week. The Noir ring I was dying for during the holiday season has now found a new home on my hand :) Of course as ususal I didn't pay full price for it...Do I ever? I'm telling you, you NEED to go shopping with me :) I know all the secrets of the city.

Hopefully this weekend the weather will warm up some so I can actually leave the house without looking like some kind of eskimo.

Korean bbq

Hey Hey World Travelers,
In Nyc you dont really have to travel far to meet people from all over the world.
Last night my roommate had a Korean BBQ and invited over all of her friends from school. I ended up having 15 people in my apartment ranging in places from korea to japan, italy, russia, china, and mexico! All of that under one roof!!
It was kinda cool to chat with all the different people about their cultures. I seriously have decided there are some places I need to visit...asap!
Overall the food was good and I made some awesome new friends :)
Maybe we can have a little gathering like this more often? :)

Benefits of Benefit

Hey Hey!

I must confess I spend all my money on clothes and makeup...thank goodness I dont mind eating easy mac every night ;) grocery shopping and actually cooking is over rated anyways.

I wandered into the Benefit store in Soho and the girl working there recognized me and gave me a little beauty makeover with all of the latest benefit products. Im not gunna lie the poreless primer is the BEST...although its pricey it is totally worth every penny.

I originally went in to the store looking for bronzer. Im really feeling the effect of this long winter...and long for a fresh sunshine glow. Since im too busy to take an actual vacation to some place warm I just invested in the benefit bronzer kit. No more ghostly white :)

I believe I have officially tried almost every beauty product on the market and Benefit never disappoints...

Hey Hey 2012!

Happy New Year everyone! Hopefully you didnt stay up too late last night so you can enjoy the first day of the year!

I had a pretty crazy new years...not gunna lie.

As of 6 pm I was all dressed up with no where to go...so I went over to the Holiday Inn across the street from my job with a few friends from work until I could decide. Me and my work friends are actually thinking about making this a new hang out spot...they have a really cheap happy hour and it as kinda funny to hang out with a bunch of tourists and get asked where you are from a million times.

Finally me and my friends chose a last minute party in Williamsburg. When we all got there we decided it wasnt exactly what we had in mind...not to mention it was kinda in a sketch warehouse looking thing. We didn't wanna wake up the next day stripped of our iphones and cameras. Soo...at 11:45 we made a desperate decision...we needed to be in the city!

Mr. taxi step on it...we need to be in Manhattan in 15 minutes! For a second we thought we were gunna be in a cab when the clock struck midnight...can you run a red light?

The cab dropped us off three blocks wrong of our party destination...so we spent the last minute of 2011 running down west 10th street in our 6 inch heels and laughing.

And honestly after we stopped running and caught our breath...we realized it doesnt matter where you are...as long as you are with people you love.

We eventually made it to one of those semi cool new years eve parties with plastic hats and blow horns...but I think I had just as much fun running through the streets of New York. West 10th street will never be the same :)

I recently tried out the Instyler. Ya I know usually infomercials sell bootleg products that dont work as well as they show on tv or break after 1 use....but for this amazing hair styling tool that isnt true. It gives you movie star curls in less than 20 minutes :) and it only retails at $99.

Dont forget the hairspray! I like to use the aussie brand...it smells good, its cheap, and it does the job.

This New Years you wont be caught with boring flat hair...

The night before

Twas the night before Christmas,
When all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring....not a creature was stirring...

OK...Soooo maybe I lied...Me and my girl friends couldn't just sit at home the night before Christmas. I mean we were all stranded here in the city without our families....So we did what we always do...we put on our cute outfits (that we would never wear to our family holiday parties) and went out on the town.

We ended up having a little dinner at the Electric Room. I had never been there before, but I was in love with how chill and quaint the basement lounge was. Then we headed upstairs to the top of Dream (PhD). The Empire State Building was all dressed for Christmas :) It's soo strange to think that back in July I was standing on the same rooftop looking at the same view of the city...and now here it is almost 2012!!!

Speaking of 2012...I still have no outfit :( and no party to attend :( How is that even possible? Maybe I guess I will find something last minute. You would think a girl like me would already have been planning this kind of event for like a month. I guess whatever happens, happens. As long as I get to see the ball drop...and I wouldn't mind a new years kiss either ;)

'tis the season to be jolly...fa la la la la...la la la la.

I am heading to a holiday event tonight...the ticket in is bringing a toy for a little tot.

As I got to the toy isle, something I thought was going to be easy was suddenly one of the most difficult things ever. What toy to get. Now I havent been a kid in a while...long enough to not know whats cool and what isnt. I mean the last thing I want to do is get a boring toy. I had a few choices...but they just didnt seem right...until I finally saw it. Pop N Race Scooby Doo game...usually known as Trouble. Growing up me, my sister, and brother loved this game...and as the name says it we always ended up getting into trouble after playing it. Someone would always start fighting or end up crying. I figured that was the best interactive toy I could find and if anything maybe 10 years down the road they will remember all the fun it was playing the game.

Gaga's Workshop

Hey hey little monsters,

Today I went on a little adventure over to Barneys to see Gaga's Workshop. I have been hearing people chat about it for a few weeks now and curiousity killed the cat...or should I say blogger?

As soon as I got there I realized that people were very much interested in my outfit..and asked to take photos of me! Turns out today I was the biggest attraction in the Gaga Workshop... :)

But enough about my outfit... Inside the workshop is a whole lot of gaga inspired candies, press on nails, cool jewelry, and her famous hair bow (which I wanted sooo bad but it retails at $85...and its the holidays I am supposed to be giving not getting).

Then came the converse. I decided I needed some chill shoes to rock after killing my feet in such crazy shoes all the time. The only problem is they were missing one thing: studs. But dont worry I totally fixed that really fast.

Hey Hey Hat Lovers!

Riding hats aren't just for girls that ride horses anymore!

At first when I saw this hat I was like "Oh cute"...but didnt think I could pull it off. I am usally more into the rocker glam look but, lately I have been falling for the lace and frills. After trying it on for a few long minutes and asking several friends opinions I came to the conclusion that I couldnt live without this hat. Im sure I can find some girly plaids and tall socks to rock with this hat.

My first few hours wearing it I already got quite a few compliments. My taxi car driver even noticed it and said it looked nice :)

I guess trying new things isn't soo scary after all. Who know's...now I might be rummaging the city for funky riding hats. Just what I need to do ;)

Thanksgiving Dinner and Such

Hey Hey!

Sooo my Thanksgiving adventures were sooo long since we started our day at 5am that I had to write two posts! This was the rest of our day wandering through the city...since there werent any stores open the only thing we could do was window shop-which actually wasnt bad at all!

The weather was nice and sunny and everyone was out. I thought it was a little funny walking down 5th avenue that the guys selling fake bags were sitting right out front of the real deal store! Ironic that there is a bag of fake Louis Vuitton bags being sold outside the real store...

We decided to eat an early dinner down in Chinatown at a place called Joe's Shanghi (apparently it's famous for dumplings). I had never been...but I was down. The walk through the heart of Chinatown was pretty cool actually! I had never really been through that part of the city before...most likely because not much stuff was actually wrote in english. The food I must say was pretty darn good. It wasnt turkey...but I wouldnt mind making chinese food a new Thanksgiving tradition :) Since Chinatown is so close to Little Italy...and we didnt yet have dessert...we wandered on over to Little Italy to find some Italian desserts. It isnt a real Thanksgiving dinner without some kinda sweets!

Finally at 7pm we had decided then we should go home and rest up and meet back in the city for a fun night of Karoke in St. Marks.....after getting home we all realized we were too tired...and passed out at 9pm. Oh well...maybe next time St. Marks :)

I really did have an amazing holiday even though I missed my fam a bit...im glad I have really great friends who can still make the day just as exciting :)

Macy's Day Parade

Hey Hey Thanksgiving!

Hope you all had a good holiday....and that you didn't eat too much food :)

Me and my friends weren't able to go home to our families this year..so we made our own Thanksgiving Day. My friend got us V.I.P. tickets to the Macy's Day Parade-perfect! The only problem-we have to wake up at 5 am!! Ahhhh...thank gosh for coffee.

None of us had ever actually been to the parade before we had only seen it on TV as kids. The only real difference is your not sitting outside in the freezing 7am New York fall temperatures...well ok and maybe it is kinda cool to have a giant sponge bob balloon floating over your head. :)

After the parade we wandered around the city looking at all the store front windows on 5th avenue and then down into Rockefeller Center.

Whats the next agenda for the day? Chinese food in Chinatown...but tha's for another post all together :)

Hey Hey Little Tree,

I know its a bit early to put you up but I couldnt resist.

My family tradition is to go and cut down our christmas tree on black friday instrad of trying to go shopping. I cant say I ever actually helped cut it I was more into picking it out and decorating it. But it was fun to stand there and drink hot apple cider while my step dad cut it.

Im kinda sad now that I have a fake tree...but the fact that its pink totally makes up for it.

I was going to wait until friday...until I bought the ornaments.... :)

Hey Hey Fine Diners,

Sure its nice to go out to eat at the nice restaurants in New York...especially when its free. I mean who wouldnt want to eat steak and scallops and fancy desserts with a view of the Empire State Building and not have to pick up the tab?

But sometimes it is nice to just have a good old frozen pizza with a friend at 4am and not have to worry about broccoli in your teeth.

Just don't occupy artichoke (that stuff has waaaay too much calories).

...Don't worry I'm not about to give up my life of fancy free dinners...but I do enjoy just the simple food sometimes...after all I am still a midwest girl at heart :)

Hey Hey Halloweeners!

How was your Halloween? Hopefully you all had a safe and scary day (and that you didnt eat too much candy)

This year I was a little lazy and we got a snow storm on Saturday...so I ended up having a D.I.Y. costume. My inspiration was Lady Gaga as a skeleton in her Born This Way music video. I took my $20 eyeliner and drew all over my face (it's not like I have black face paint laying around my house). Then I threw on a pair of glitter leggings, a menswear inspired dress shirt, a glitter bowtie, and my velvet blazer...It actually turned out pretty legit :)

Because of the snow a lot of people decided to stay in...but not me :) I ended up going to Dream Hotel rooftop after work and hanging out with some friends. Later that night the festivities continued at RDV...Woody, Buzz, and Wonder Woman...OH MY!

All my friends dressed pretty cool I'm not going to lie...

I have been hanging out on the L.E.S. (lower east side) a lot more lately. I think because of the grungy artist vibe. One of my fav places to eat on Thursday's is Co-op at the Rivington Hotel. It's a pretty chill lounge with indie pop style music.

I love love love that they serve sushi...one of my favs :)

This week I met a few new friends at dinner. Gotta love bonding over free food. Oh ya..I forgot to mention...we don't pay at all for the dinner. It's all comped thanks to our nice promoter friends :)

Hey Hey Mr. Wednesday,

Don't you know you aren't supposed to invite all your girls out in the same night to the same place. I mean come on we even thought you had more game than that.

I wouldn't recommend inviting all the girls you are "seeing" on the same night. It could get a little messy...and besides in the end we are all going to become friends...because we all bonded over one thing in common...you.

What ever happend to just being with one person these days? Everyone is getting soo selfish. I mean wouldn't it just be easier to have one. Then you don't have to worry about trying to remember which one doesn't like sushi or which one is a vegetarian or which one is allergic to seafood. Balancing that kind of thing must get pretty tiring...

In the end at least us girls all become good friends :)

Fire Ombre

Hey Hey Hair Stylists,

I have been dying to try the new ombre hairstyle on my hair...but I was a little scared to commit to anything too permanent. The blonde on brown was just a little too over done for me. I have been seeing every fashionista rock that look now all fall ... I originally wanted to go for something crazy like a deep violet...but decided against it.

Instead I went for a fire red! It actually turned out pretty amazing for doing it myself. And it's not too crazy noticeable either.

So how can you get the look for just $5.99 like me? Go to Ricky's and pick out the color you want for your hair. They sell all kinds of colors from black, to blue, to purple, and red. If you have a darker natural hair color already you might have to get bleach to lighten the tips first. My hair was a light brown so it did take on the red pretty easily.

Section your hair into two parts right down the middle. Then pick the length you want your ombre to be. Start putting on the color! (please use gloves...my hands were orange for two days). After the color is applied evenly to both sides, put the ends in a plastic bag and tie shut. Let sit for a half hour or 45 min depending on how your hair takes color. Then wash out...and dry...and your good to go! Your own ombre..for just $5.99!

Velvet isn't just for vampires anymore!

This fall I am soo loving VELVET! I have been going a little crazy buying velvet blazers, blouses, and leggings... :) Total Vamp look.

Velvet is everywhere right now...and anyone can easily pull off the romantic goth look. It's personally one of my fav looks to throw in on a friday night. Going out in an all black head to toe look makes you look a bit mysterious and of course fashionable :) So here are some of the pieces I will be scouring every vintage store this fall to find...even if I dont get the exact same thing older replicas will work for me...

Dont know how to pull off all the velvet? Look to the past for inspiration. Usually lacie things look good with the fabric ;) Remember keep it dark and romantic.

The hottest lipstick trend this fall is deep purple! I am soo loving it...The color looks really awesome with my purple glitter MG bag :) The color matches perfectly. Sometimes it's kinda fun to rock the goth look for a day just to mix up your wardrobe a bit. I am not going to lie I felt a little crazy rocking this look during the daytime...but in Soho you can really get away with anything...everyone over there is super trendy...and if anything bloggers will stop you to take your picture. It's a tough life being a trendsetter :)

im also stocking up for winter early...the cold weather will be here sooner than you think! I got this amazing fur jacket at the same second hand store...amazing times two! It has pointed shoulders! No way! I dont care that I cant wear it yet.

Hey Hey Crafters,

Today I was in the mood to revamp my wardrobe a bit...im over my summer clothes. So I decided to do a little d.i.y. project.

I went to buffalo exchange and got an old jean shirt- $10 and then to M&J trimming in the garment district to get studs- $5. all together my shirt cost me $15! And it looks waaay cooler than anything you can buy for that price in a store.

To get this look it isnt hard and doesnt take a rocket scientist at all either. All you need is a pliers and your imagination. Lay the shirt out on the floor to get a better look at it and then start putting on the studs!

20 min later you have a new shirt! I put the studs only on one side I like the asymmetric look but you can repeat the same design on the other side.

Today has been a very rainy day here in the city so I decided to just stay in brooklyn and hang out. I really needed to do laundry so the weather gave me a reason to do it. Thank gosh for smart phones. I was messing around with my camera on my phone takin cool pics :)

Last night I went rollerskating down by the highline park with some friends. Not gunna lie we all made fools of ourselves but it felt good to just go out and be goofy for a change.

Me and my friends all dressed in disco worthy clothes...its not a disco party with out the bling :) I was wearing my american flag dress with cute levi cut offs.

Summer is over and fall is here...you have to check out the roller rink before its done. It would make the perfect spot for a date :)

This fall you are inspiring us girls! Menswear is slowly but surely creeping into fashionable women's closets.
I cant wait to start stealing some of my guy friends clothes :)

This fall men are inspiring women with everything from shirts and jackets to shoes...and even some bow tie action. I ran across this Alexander Wang tank top at Buffalo Exchange...and decided to play a little mens inspired dress up. I added my little red glitter bow tie pin to top off the look. Then I threw on some highwaisted levi shorts, my miss matched tall socks, and my JC pony hair wedges.

Hey Hey Fashion Week,

I know your almost over...and then we will have to wait until February to see you again. The city is always a lot more fun when all the fashionistas are in town. Not to mention I noticed a few more cute boys wandering around my neighborhood ;)

This time around I was too busy to really do anything fun...no fashion parties and no fashion shows :( but it's ok! I still had fun and looked stylish like usual.

I caught up today on some of the shows at Lincoln Center. Most of it was kinda too plain and simple for me...but I did fall in LOVE with Nanette Lepore's collection. She used super bright neon fabrics from head to toe. The editors said they were a bit over the neon trend...but how can you be over this awesome look! I seriously want to go out and buy all those lipstick shades and find some crazy bright shoes and clothes. I should maybe wait until next spring to do that though..since we are just going into fall and the city gets a bit drab in the winter. Don't wanna glow in the day. Speaking of glowing...her collection soo reminded me of those lite brites we all know we played with as a kid :)

Fall is around the corner...well kinda.

I always say that as soon as Starbucks comes out with their pumpkin spice latte that fall has arrived. This year that's not so much the case. New York City is still summer hot...and I am dying for the cooler weather to arrive so I can layer on all the cool new clothes I bought. I am sooo over my summer wardrobe. Bring on the blazers, boots, and tall socks!

Today I was dreaming of shoes...Jeffrey Campbell's to be exact :) The new collection is sooo dreamy...I wish I could have all the shoes in the world sometimes...but then I would need a much bigger space to keep them all!

Hey Hey Girls,

Remember that game we used to play when we were five with whatever flower we could find?

Well, theres nothing wrong with still trying it out now.

Everytime I go to Avenue I take a yellow rose. Mostly because I like to wear it in my hair all night...i actually really dislike roses...they are such an over played flower. However the yellow ones they have at Avenue are georgeous!

So the other night when I got home I played a little "he loves me, he loves me not". There is a boy that I have a little baby crush on...but unfortunately as the petal falls...he loves me not. Everyone elses advice is always saying hes crazy and to ditch him...ugh...wouldnt it be nice if we were older?

Monday night I get home after work to find my roomate having a little summer bbq at our house. She cooked some AMAZING authentic mexican. I didnt think while loading up with hot sauce it would be soo spicy...i pretty much scarred my mouth for life.

Ever since I moved in all I heard about is Mike, Mike, Mike. He's the guy who used to live in my room. I was a little sad they thought this Mike guy was more cool than me. I mean come on im pretty tough to beat.

At the bbq I found out why. After 2 seconds of meeting him I was team Mike. The man of my dreams used to dream in my room. Tall, dark, and handsome...and plays the guitar. Gets me everytime...

Its waaay cooler to not match...which is why my latest obsession is with Little Miss Matched socks. They come in a pack of 3 and don't match but coordinate in color. I fell in love! What a cool look for summer. Open toed shoes and miss matched socks :) However on the downside they are a bit pricey...but totally worth it.

First time trying the trend out I got alot of funny looks. Noo I didnt get dressed in the dark...i bought them like that :) One guy on the train even told me "ya know everyone is staring at your feet."

A few weeks ago a good friend of mine went on a little adventure to florence italy...i wanted her to take me in her suitcase but she packed too many clothes. Sooo instead I sent the next best thing...My Miss Gustto gold crossbody bag. I figured I could channel some of my crazy adventures through the purse :)

From the looks of it she had a lot of fun eating good food, riding mopeds with cute italian boys, and sightseeing the beautiful architecture of Italy.

Today I accidentally cheated on my Miss Gustto bag. Ooops. But I couldnt resist the cute vintage fendi backback I found. Dont worry, I couldnt possibly have all the cool adventures with fendi as I do with MG.

Over the weekend I also finally got my Dorothy Jeffrey Campbells. Thank goodness for looking cute and getting a discount :) They even look good with my miss matched socks!

Hey Hey Pool Party,

Finally I found you!! I had the day off and the weather was nice...so I couldnt turn down an invite to a pool party in on of Manhattan's newest and hottest hotels.

Me and a few friends spent the day hanging out and chillin by the pool. We even got free massages :) gotta love new york! The things you can get into on a saturday afternoon.

I must say the dream hotel pool is one of the cooler rooftop pools I have been to. Since its new its a pretty exclusive place :)

Next time I just gotta remember my swim suit!

Hey Hey,

One would think your safe to not find any kind of crazy plants like poision ivy anywhere in new york city...but thats a bit not true.

After leaving Goldbar me and my besties walked by a cool wall filled with vine leaves. Perfect photo op! We had sooo much fun playing around...

...we finally got our pics and left in a cab...

Thats when the itching started. By the time we got to Avenue we were sooooo itchy...what the heck! You would think a wall of leaves that big wouldnt be sooo dangerous...

I guess that was a lesson learned. Leave it up to us to get into something like that! Next time nooo mother nature photoshoots.

Hey Hey Sunshine!

I finally got to see you this weekend and finally I got a bit of a bronzy tan :) yay! no more looking like winter.

I headed to Brighton Beach with a few friends. I failed to catch any pics because immediatly after arriving I fell asleep...and woke up 2 hours later completely burned! Guess I gotta rock the tomato look for the next few days...oh well it was sooo worth it :)

Now that I got a taste of the beach im hoping this weekend is equally as nice.

Hey Hey Birthday!

Thanks all of you that came out and celebrated my bday with me :) it really was awesome. Rooftop views and cupcakes!

I started the night off at the new Dream Hotel rooftop...amazing view of the red, white, and blue empire state building. My friends showed up and suprized me with a bday cupcake...love you guys!

Then we headed over to Avenue...where I had my second bday cake :) make a wish...

Being 22 so far doesnt really feel any different than 21...i guess it takes a few days to fully kick in

Hey Hey girls!

This saturday is my birthday...so lets all celebrate!

Last night I went to the Boom Boom Room for the first time. Can you say amazing! I have been wanting to check out this venue in sooo long but its very difficult to get in. You have to either be a millionaire or be with one. Luckily I know some friends who were going.

From down below the whole meatpacking can look up and see this beautiful place at the top of the standard hotel. Getting in is the hard part...when you finally get past the door to the elevator that takes you up your handed a golden card. Thats your only key to getting in...kinda like willy wonka and the chocolate factory. Finally when you are in...you realize wow. Beautiful people, beautiful view, and beautiful decor. Sadly I couldnt get any good pics of the place...you cant really go around these places with cameras... I just sat and chillaxed taking in the awesome view. It kinda feels cool to know for those few hours your the one looking down on the whole city.

Well that was a good start to a birthday weekend...cant wait until saturday!

Hey Hey Friday,

Last Friday night was a total Katy Perry adventure. I'm not going to lie I am a little obsessed with that song. The music video is sooo epic! Maybe because it reminds me totally of my younger days...except I was never cool enough to throw the party of the century...But now that I have ditched the glasses and braces and got a better sense of fashion, Friday nights are a little more fun :)

This weekend I hear the weather is going to be nice...perfect for the beach! I got tomorrow off from work so I'm going to pack up my beach bag and head to Coney Island to get my tan on. I seriously need some color...I'm too pale from New York's long winter.

So...since I'm in this beach bum mode I figured I would check out some new swimsuits. I can't get caught on the beach in last summer swim suit!! My fav place to get a cute suit at a decent price is Victoria's Secret. But now the question is do I get a 1 piece...or a bikini? The monokini's are pretty darn cute!! The only problem is ya get crazy tan lines.

I sooo can't wait to sit by the ocean and relax...even though I shouldn't complain I've been doing a whole lot of relaxing lately. But that's what summer is all about right?

Unfortunately here in Minnesota the weather has been a bit more gloomy. of course the rain would follow me on my vacation!

I've had a pretty good and relaxing time home. I got to shoot a gun, do some shopping, and watch my younger sister graduate :) today im spending the day with the fam picniking at the park.

Do ya miss me New York? I have been running around Minnesota in my jeffrey campbells and cruella nars red lipstick. Nothing like sticking out like a sore thumb...and getting all kinds of "lady gaga" comments...

Today the weather was a little iffy but the morning was nice. Everything around here is sooo green and good smelling! I dont even mind being woken up to the sound of someone mowing their lawn too early in the morn.

I went out to my grandparents house and shot a gun with my little cousin....yes MG is armed and dangerous...jk...but I do have a decent aim :) unfortunatly my 5 year old cousin showed me up with her shooting skills.

Later on I went to the mall. I forgot how different small town life is...ya cant really wear glitter leggings and dinosaur rings around...thank god kato is small because I was finally able to get the opi crackle nail polish I have been wanting but its been sold out everywhere in the city.

Ive been having fun relaxing but I do wonder what the crazy city has been doing without me!!

Today my adventures were more chill...i walked down broadway-in brooklyn. Its a little different than the one in manhattan but the one thing manhattans doesnt have is $5 mani's. I have been obssessing over the new crackle nail polish by opi...so thats exactly what I got. :) now I got the perfect rocker nails to go with my mg rockstar crossbody.

After that I kept walking til I reached the water. Soaking up the sun while looking at the city...there is no better way to spend a saturday.

There is nothing more intriguing than ancient princesses. They were always drapped in the most amazing jewelry...specifically neck pieces.

In a few second hand stores I have actually stumbled across some really awesome vintage neck pieces. I always wonder why people would get rid of this stuff. A lot of it is one of a kind and for sure cannot be found at any topshop or forever 21.

So if you want to feel like a princess for the day, and not the kind with frills and bows, try this cool trend. All the greatest women of the past were painted in photos wearing amazing neck pieces-there's no reason you can't be just as amazing as them!

If you haven't already, you HAVE to check out the Aleander McQueen "Savage Beauty" at the Met.

Saturday was a rainy day so I headed uptown to the Met for a day of fashion and art. I needed to see a little of both just to get back in the loop of everything.

The exhibition was beyond amazing. Words seriously can''t describe the crazy master mind of Alexander McQueen. To see his pieces up close and in real life was really something I was glad I had the opportunity to see. I had to be a bit of a rebel and sneak in some pics because they don't allow photography...oops :) Thank goodness the place was packed with tourists and they couldn't really see me doing it!

But really pictures doesn't really do it justice...you really gotta go check it out if you are into fashion! :)

Ive had the longest craziest week with too much drama involved I dont even wanna speak of it. I ended up moving out of of my tiny soho apt and into brooklyn. So far so good I have sooo much more space and even a cute little space for all my MG bags :)

So now my life is all back in order and lessons were learned. I have come out a lot stronger person and proved to myself that nothing can stop me. Heck if I can move my whole apt in my jeffrey campbell pony hair wedges...anything is possible :)

so since im kinda starting my life over again in brooklyn I decided to head to ikea on my day off. That place is too much, but I managed to find what I need.

I'm off to see the Wizard! The only problem is...what should I ask him for?

As you readers already know I am a huge fan of the movie the Wizard of Oz. I have and always will be obsessed with those ruby red slippers!!

The other day I came across this amazing pair of Mui Mui glitter flats. I know Dorothy's are red in the movie...but in the book they are actually silver! They just used red for the movie to make the shoes stand out in technicolor. I needed them in my life...seriously these shoes are just to awesome to pass up! And no...I didn't land my house on a wicked witch to get them.

The Wizard of Oz was filmed in 1939...obviously Judy Garlands wardrobe is a little too old fashioned to run around in today....soo...I am going to revamp the look a bit.

This morning I woke up bright and early and wandered my way over to the Upper East Side to Nars headquarters. I am not really supposed to say why I was there...it's for some new super top secret project. But anyways I got to test out all their cool makeup and play with fun shades :) I even went home with some free stuff! I took some bright red lipsticks to match my Miss Gustto bag. Perfect!

No wonder we all love Friday's. Only good stuff can happen on a Friday morning.

April Showers...Bring Rainbows?

Hey Hey Rain,

I know in order to get May flowers there has to be April showers...but really does it have to be torrential downpour kinda showers?

I attempted to go out shopping in Soho on Saturday but the weather made it nearly impossible. All of the garbages were filled with broken umbrellas! After being out in the rain for 20 minutes I decided to just meet up with a friend and go sit in a coffee shop in the East Village called Mud. The coffee shop amazingly wasn't too packed and was actually super cute...not to mention some of the cute boys hanging out there writing in their writers tablets...hmm...maybe I can inspire them to write a poem about me?

The whole rest of the weekend...I don't know if it had to do with the rain or what...but I was inpsired to wear rainbow type clothing. After every rain shower there is a rainbow...and after every storm there is sunshine...

Hey Hey Trend Followers,

This season color blocking is soo in. The trend was on all the runways this past season. It looks like a crazy thing to try and pull off but really it's easy!

The other night I went out to Oak with some friends (like the usual). I wanted to try out a new look. For some reason I am feeling like I need to reinvent my wardrobe... I just got the hot pink dress from American Apparel. DILEMA: What Miss Gustto bag do I wear with this hot pink dress!? I have soo many choices and most of them don't really feel right. Winner: Miss Gustto salmon red. Now I'm ready...:)

Try it yourself don't be afraid! I got compliments all night on my outfit. Salmon red and hot pink are perfect together! Everyone loved the bright color contrast even in the dark! Well...I might just have to test my skills on colorblocking again :)

Not Everyday

Hey Hey Green Thumbs!

Not every day can be an adventure...tear! I know that doesn't sound like any fun...but I need my beauty sleep too!

Today I spent my day working..and dreaming about my new obsessions of spring. My whole wardrobe has suddenly changed to sheer tops and crazy vests. I am totally loving the sheer top trend :) My closet is filled with the perfect mix of girlie and rocker pieces.

Today my outfit was perfect for frollicking through the flowers...but since there aren't any fields of flowers I had to make up my own...I went walking down 27th street "the flower district". I must say it's most likely the best smelling block in NYC. The whole sidewalk is covered in flowers, trees, and little blocks of grass. I guess this is where New Yorkers go when they wanna do landscaping?

Somehow my non-adventure days always end up being some kind of small adventure anyways...

Hey Hey Gustto Girls,
I have been getting pretty inspired lately after reading Gossip Girl. I am not really much of an uptown girl like I have said before...but today I decided to give it a shot and spend all day going into fabulous 5th Ave stores.

I walked into Henri Bendel and suddenly became more popular than I think Blair and Serena themselves. Everyone surrounded me with beautiful products. Maybe it was just because they wanted me to buy what they were trying to sell...but I like to think it's because they secretly thought I was someone cool. It wasn't a wasted trip...I got my makeup done for free...a cool smoky eye and some lip gloss-just how I like it! Henri Bendel you are fabulous.

At the end of 5th Ave I stopped in Central Park to rest a bit and do a little mini shooting with my cool new brown MG bag. It matches perfectly with my Doc Martens :) As I was sitting there looking up at the buildings and all the trees, I couldn't help but think...The Gossip Girls have a tough life...It really is more work to get pampered constantly and approached by people with questions about who you are.

The sun was setting over the city and the buildings were lighting up. What will tonight bring?

Hey Hey Sunrise,

I haven't actually stayed out til sunrise in forever! I'm not gunna lie, it's not something I wanna do every night...but it is a good feeling staying up til the break of dawn.

Last night was quite the adventure. From Skyroom to 1Oak to Cafeteria.

I don't know why Oak was sooo crazy last night...maybe it had to do with a celeb guest DJ?

I arrived quite late due to the fact I was at a hotel/rooftop party before hand. By the time I got to Oak the place was packed! Models, bottles, and crazy dancers. Pretty much everyone important in the fashion industry was there. I met a booker from Ford Modeling Agency at coat check and she was pretty rude to me putting on her makeup in the middle of nowhere saying that everyone inside was trying to be a model and fashion designers are broke. (who puts their makeup on in coat check!?) She muttered her name to me and told me to google it...HA...I think if she tried to google mine she would find more interesting stuff than me googling her! Maybe she already googled me and saw my halloween costume (I only shoot Ford Models). Good thing I didn't tell her my name!!!

Soo many good looking boys for a change... S let's go boy hunting!

After Oak me and my friends hopped in the escalade and headed to breakfast at Cafeteria. Dancing all night til 5 am makes a girl hungry! Thank goodness Cafeteria is 24/7 and right around the corner! Let's continue the party there...with food! Before we knew it we were leaving Cafeteria to go home and the sky was turning a light grey. Good Morning The City That Never Sleeps :)

This is the first bit of our adventures in Washington Square Park...While me and my friends were hanging out in the famous park we got approached by several people actually..sooo many the only encounter we were able to catch was with a photographer. He said we were too cool.

Target Hoppin'

Hey Hey Girls!

This weekend the weather was nice in the city!! All day Saturday I spent Target hopping for a new Miss Gustto project. Silly me wasn't smart enough to call Target before hand to check to see if they actually had what I was looking for so I ended up running all over the city from Harlem to Queens. In the end it wasn't too bad because I got to see some cool new neighborhoods I have never been :)

After 4 subways, 1 shuttle bus, and 2 Targets... I got what I was looking for all day! The new Kodak playsport. I heard some cool new reviews about the product...and wasn't going home until I had it in my hands. Let's see if it's all it's cracked up to be.

Soo...why was I running all over New York like a chicken with my head cut off? Well...I just might be starting a new project, with a whole lot of cool bags involved..are you my friends ready to join in?? I sure hope so!

Hey Hey New York,

Yes! I am still alive!! I just had a long week last week with some italian stallions, I went on all kinds of crazy adventures...barely taking any photos :( sorry...

Thank god I got a cool turqouise MG backback before the week started! I was able to tote it around with me and fit everything I needed for the day inside. I kinda felt like one of those cool city girls who can pull of a fashion backpack.

Monday I did document. I started the week off at Dos Caminos. It was my first time actually at this Mexican restaurant in the Meat Packing. "What's the Meat Packing?" our Italian friends kept saying? Well, it may not look like it now since it's only been an hour since arriving to this city...but the Meat Packing is the best part about this city :) We spent the whole night "cheers-ing" our margaritas. "What would you like for dessert?" hmmm...we will take a little bit of everything...with "A BUNCHA SPOONS".

I could already tell the week was going to be long....but fun!

Taxi Cab Yellow

Hey Hey Sunny Saturday,

Today was a bit chilly but the sky was bright blue. I headed down to Seaport for the day just to relax. I haven't been down to Seaport in forever! I must say there wasn't as many tourists as I thought there would be.

Seaport is a historical part of the city with an amazing view of the Brooklyn Bridge. Of course on this sunshine day I had to rock the latest quilted patent faux leather Miss Gustto bag. I am in love with how awesome this bag is! The taxi cab yellow is just the color I need :) I got quite a few compliments on it too!

Last night I traveled all the way up to 125th street to go to Lenox Lounge (a famous Jazz club in Harlem). I decided to try something new and different...still don't know if jazz music is my calling, but the famous zebra room was really cool! The Jazz club has been around since 1939 and back in it's prime was the hangout spot for all the now famous historical jazz muscians. Unfortunately they don't allow photos and I got yelled at for taking the few that I did...Tear! After the jazz I had to go back to my world downtown and headed to Juliet with some friends. Uptown sorry, I'm a downtown kinda girl.

Hey Hey Gustto Girls!

The new Spring 2011 collection is here. Thank goodness!! I am soo looking forward to rocking the bright patent bags. This collection was inspired by the 70's rock-n-roll/hippie, 80's neon, and sweet and innocence. Overall there is a bag for every kind of girl day or night.

Last weekend we had a photoshoot for the new collection, but however I had a slightly crazy night out on one of my blogging adventures that I didn't set my alarm the night before and woke up too late to make it to the shoot. Oops! Maybe going out the night before wasn't such a good idea. I woke up at 11 am in Williamsburg at a friends house...when I was supposed to be in Manhattan at 10:30.

But anywho, the new collection is awesome...I can't wait to run around the city with some new bags this weekend :) Word on the street is that its supposed to be 70 degrees and sunny...Hello Springtime in the City.

One Woman's Junk..Is Another Woman's Treasure

Hey Hey Vintage Lovers!

Ever wonder where the heck I get all my cool clothes to go with my Miss Gustto bags from? Well, I am not gunna lie...I may look like I shop the streets of 5th Avenue all day and have an assistant to carry my all my bags and a driver to take me here and there...But who really has all that these days? That can only exist in movies.

Well my secret is vintage/second hand shops. And don't say eww! Vintage stores are actually the new 5th Avenue...Really...Your not a real New Yorker if you haven't stepped foot in one. Plus now that I told you my secret your most likely going to check out some of these cool places I am about to list down below...

My favorite hands down is Buffalo Exchange. They have two locations in the city and 1 in Williamsburg. At BE you can actually trade your older wardrobe in for a new one! You can get either 50% back in store credit or 30% back in cash! Pretty sweet...The other day I got these amazing Doc Marten shoes there...They were seriously brand new never worn...$45 dollars in the store...FREE for me for selling back some of my old stuff! :)

Another cool place I like to check out in both Park Slope and Williamsburg is Beacons Closet. They have the same kinda policy as Buffalo, except they usually take more vintage. The prices there I have found are a bit more expensive and sometimes the quality isn't as great. Still I have found some pretty sweet things that are in my wardrobe there.

For leathers and furs I recommend a place called Vise Versa in Williamsburg. I got the most amazing fur jacket from there earlier in the winter for only $30! How can you pass that up! There are other clothes in the store but I specifically go there if I want a nice leather or fur piece.

When I want something quirky I go to a place off the J train on the border of Williamsburg called Doomsey. The prices there are seriously the cheapest! One can spend $20 and walk away with a bag full of stuff. It's a huge warehouse so you have to spend a bit looking through the racks but this is the cheapest vintage store I have been able to find in the whole NYC area.

Salvation Army on 11th Street and 4th Ave is my fav place to go for cheap t-shirts. I get all my funny t's there for only 99 cents a shirt! Best deal ever!

For all of you NYer's on Saturday and Sunday in an old parking garage on 25th between 6 and 7 is a vintage flea market. You can find anything you want there...literally.

Every fashionista has their secrets to looking good...but most people just don't expect that you got it at a "thrift" store. I say have no fear of thrifting! It's not just your old fashioned garage sale items...in NYC it's serious! Not to mention I have found everything from one of a kind jewelry, to shoes, and even clothes! And most of the time I spend little to no money at all...Even if you don't live in NYC, a lot of these stores are chain stores and you can find them easily in your area!!

Beetle Juice, Beetle Juice...Beetle Juice!

Hey Hey Spring,

I am loving Beetle Juice stripes this spring. For some reason I just can't stay away from the stripes...they haunt me in my dreams. Maybe it's because I actually do enjoy the crazy movie...Some of the fashion is a bit of a hit or miss but it's ok to get a bit inspired and turn it into more modern 2011. Just whatever you do...DON'T say BEETLE JUICE!

When I saw this blazer I had to get it (not to mention after putting it on I realized it was def made for me). It goes perfect with my salmon colored Miss Gustto bag. Kinda Beetle Juice meets nautical. Overall it's a pretty sweet look that had people telling me all day that they loved my style :) I love that it's cool and trendy with just the right amount of edgy to it.

So next time your out shopping look for those Beetle Juice stripes to go with your awesome Miss Gustto bags. Trust me...it's a look you will love to wear for spring :)

Grocery shopping in NYC can be quite the chore. A chore I like to hold off on doing as long as possible. Why can't it be more like shopping for shoes? or clothes? I would rather just have take out sushi or chinese every night. But now that the weather is getting nice and soon swim suit season will be here...I have to get into a little bit better shape. I have been slacking off a bit...but it's been a long winter so that's my excuse :)

City Days.

Hey Hey Weekend!

Why do you always have to go by sooo fast? I feel like I never have enough time in my day to do all the things I would like to...but then again don't we all? Hints of spring were finally in the air in the city...although it wasn't quite as warm as I was hoping. All day Friday I wandered the city in the sunshine. What a perfect day to have off from everything! I wandered from Soho to the West Village. I saw soo many georgeous Tibetan jewelry stores...I have a feeling I will have an obsession with Tibet inspired things this summer :)

Later in the night I went to dinner at Cipriani's with my friends. I hadn't been there in quite a long while and it was nice to hang out with some girls I know from Germany. Cipriani's was a good looking crowd like usual...but I got a little bored of the good looking people that just stand around...so me and my friends left and spent the rest of the night at Juliet.

Now it's Monday...

And I'm already ready for the weekend again!!

Fashion in the Sky

Hey Hey Fashionista's,

Last night was a rainy one in NYC...but that didn't stop me from heading on over to Skyroom a rooftop lounge to check out a cool fashion show! The view at Skyroom was amazing. Ever wonder what fashion looks like in the sky? Well...this is it!

I got poured on and arrived soaking wet so I did what any fashionista would have done-just threw my hair in a pony and decided to just go with the wet dog look. Thank goodness not many people noticed...and I was still mistaken backstage of the show for the "rebel" model. "Why aren't you in hair and makeup!?"

I didn't get to see much of the actual show since I was backstage dressing the girls this time, but did catch the last few walks.

After the show me and my friends were the life of the party! Everyone else was kinda chilling...so we decided to get everyone dancing. A friend of mine had her Miss Gustto bag with her too! We both had the whole punk chic look going with our studded out bags! All of us had a great time...def a fashion show we will all be talking about for a while for several reasons...

Trends I love for Spring :)

Hey Hey Spring,

Please hurry and come! I am sooo sick of wearing my winter clothes. Sure I do love fur and cute boots...but really I am totally over bundling up everytime I go out.

Here are some trends I am sooo looking forward to rocking this spring :)

How can you not fall in love with Greek Mythology? Natural gemstones with magical powers are totally in...and I cant wait to be covered in amethyst and turquoise...maybe some moonstone? The love ring I have been dreaming of since I first saw it two years ago in a Brooklyn boutique called St. Kilda.

This trend I am a little on edge with...but it does seem kinda fun. Maybe I wont jump on the bandwagon, but I would totally rock the converse. Candy necklaces should stay in my 5 year old memory.

LOVE! Skulls, studs, and finger armor! I think I need that skull necklace in my life...The red salmon bag totally reminds me of my fav Miss Gustto bag I have been carrying around lately.

Hippie grunge totally sums up my whole wardrobe...I guess that means I am already ahead of the trends. Greenwich Village in the 70's meets rock-n-roll...sounds pretty darn cool to me!

I think as the weather gets warmer I might want to be staying away from these prints. They remind me too much of winter...but I will totally embrace the jewels inspired by this trend :)

So there it is...This spring I will be scouring the city for these looks. Wish me luck... :) What's your fav spring look?

Staten Island Ferry

Hey Hey Sight See-ers,

If ya wanna see a cool view of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline for free then check out the Staten Island Ferry. I had the day off Saturday and decided why not go for a little joyride out on the water...

Ohh the crazy adventures I go on! I went right at sunset making it prime photo opportunity. The ferry runs 24/7 so you can go anytime of the day or night. It's best to take it around sunset so on the way out there the sun is setting and on the way back it's dark and the city lights come on.

The ferry isn't the most glamorous boat ride...but hey, it's free!
